From Self to Other: Relational Spheres

Written as a reflection of the interventions of “Self-As-Other-Trainings” at Place de la Monnaie in Brussels as part of Precarious Pavilions #2 – the new local, curated by choreographer Michiel Vandevelde and produced in collaboration with the Kaaitheater. The essay investigates the process of active embodiment as an ability to explore a novel way of dialogue between the local and the global. It takes the Place de la Monnaie / Muntplein’s consumerist identity as a starting point for dissecting economic complexities and the invisible forms of labor that inform global inequalities and exploitation.
